The TM-6 represents the ultimate development of our vacuum-tube filter technology.
It is UNIQUE. No other filter EVER made sounds like ours. Because only ours utilize fully vacuum-tube signal paths.
Derived from our award-winning TM-2 filter, it uses two carefully adjusted bandpass filters to allow its use as a low-pass filter, a bandpass filter, or as a bass-only resonant filter.
A continuously adjustable FILTER TYPE knob allows the TM-6 to serve as all of the above---or to form filter types somewhere between those basic designs. This effect is rarely seen in conventional solid-state filters. The TM-6 is NOT a state-variable filter, as often seen in vintage analog synthesizers.
It is UNIQUE.
The resonant behaviors of the two filters have been adjusted to provide an excellent FOUR-POLE low-pass response, with full tunability and adjustment of resonance via control voltage inputs. And the tuning CV input can accept a standard expression pedal, allowing the guitarist or bassist to use the TM-6 as a foot-operated wah-wah.
Specifications:
Frequency response less than 10 Hz to greater than 40 kHz.
Distortion from less than 0.1% to greater than 20%, depending on input signal.
Filter sweep range (approx): bass-only 80-200 Hz, bandpass/lowpass LOW 300-1000 Hz, HIGH 800-1900 Hz.
Filter peaking from Q less than 2 to oscillation.
Voltage gain approx. 1 with RESONANCE set to 9 o'clock position and INPUT LEVEL set to maximum.
Hum and noise less than 0.5 mV at output.
Power input 10v AC to 12v AC, 50/60 Hz, 0.8 amp max at idle--derived from an appropriate plug-in AC adapter, using a 2.1mm coaxial power jack.
Inputs: 1/4" phone jacks for audio input; control-voltage inputs for filter center-frequency tuning CV, and for resonance CV.
Tuning CV jack accepts control voltage OR any industry-standard expression pedal with TRS connections (examples: Fatar VP26, Korg EXP2, Kurzweil CC1, Moogerfooger EP-1, Roland EV5, Yamaha FC7, etc.) Tuning CV input is effective over approx. 3 volt range (offsettable with the FILTER TUNE knob).
Resonance CV jack increases resonance from front-panel FILTER RESONANCE knob setting to maximum as CV input increases from approx. 1.5v to 5v.
Output: phone jack, audio, mono, 1k ohm impedance.
All Metasonix TM series modules may be used as standalone effects boxes. Or they may be mounted in 5U-high standard modular synthesizers (MOTM, Synthesizers.com, Moog) using our TM-M kit. Or, they may be mounted in Eurorack-based modular synthesizers (Doepfer, Analogue Systems, Analogue Solutions) using our TM-D kit. Our modules are the only ones in the WORLD capable of this.
Dimensions: 7 1/2" (192mm) x 4 3/8" (112mm) x 3" (77mm). Weight not including accessories approx. 5 pounds (2.2 kg).
