Yamaha CS80

This CS80 is currently located at our restoration partners – KSR in Surrey, UK.

The CS80 is in original condition, so had not had any modifications fitted (no MIDI).  We purchased this from our UK customer, who owned the CS80 since the early 1980s when it was used by them in productions under British pop band name ‘Swing Out Sister,’ although it had been stored unused for about 20 years until this year. Cosmetically it is in overall good condition but does show signs of wear & tear to the control surfaces and tolex, but a full cosmetic restoration is available if a pristine finish is required (see upgrade options below).  To keep the CS80 competitively priced, we are selling this as-is in terms of cosmetic presentation, but KSR have already carried out a full operational restoration on this CS80 to ensure it’s sold 100% perfectly working and fully guaranteed.

The CS80 has already been fully operationally restored (Level 1) by KSR, which is normally a costed service at £3K GBP alone, so the following work has been implemented:

The restoration comprises (not limited to) the total replacement of all the old CMOS Logic IC’s, all of the dual op-amps, voice card, and power supply capacitors & transistors. In addition to this the TKC circuit board, which controls the polyphonic after touch of the CS80, is fitted with a set of bypass/decoupling capacitors for each IC to greatly reduce the chance of failure of the touch response circuit. To cap this off, a full calibration is then performed (voltages to within within 3 decimal places). The actual list of work is huge, and changes out several hundred components,  and includes a 14 day burn-in test period/stress testing.

All the RL Music supplied CS80s are serviced/restored by the world renown CS80 expert Kent Spong of KSR (Kent Spong Restorations) in London. Sound on Sound magazine (SOS) did an interview article on Kent, which you can find here:

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun13/articles/kent-spong.htm

Warranty Provided:
The CS80 is sold with a 6 month warranty as standard which covers all parts and labour and telephone/Skype technical support. KSR also provide full after-sales technical support for the CS80 by phone, email and Skype post-warranty. KSR are world renown CS80 experts and currently support hundreds of these models around the world for professional musicians/studios and enthusiasts etc.

Upgrade Option 1:
If Midi is required on the CS80 then we are able to supply and install the Kenton Midi retrofit Kits for an additional £850 GBP. Payment for the Midi Kits must be made in advance as they are made to order (minimum 14 day lead-time from Kenton).

Upgrade Option 2:
Total-Restoration Upgrade
All aspects of the CS80 cosmetic presentation are addressed including re-tolexing all the exterior, re-painting and screen printing all control surfaces. This work can take up to 12 weeks to complete from receipt of deposit (minimum 20%).  For more information on what is included in this ultimate upgrade option then please call or email us for details. The Total-Restoration Cosmetic Upgrade Option costs £3000 GBP. (does not include upgrade options 1, 3 & 4)

Upgrade Option 3:
Wood Surround (in Walnut) beautifully hand crafted by Lamond Design for an additional £750 GBP.

Upgrade Option 4:
KSR have designed the special modification for the CS80 (The Cascade Unison Mod ) so that if you press a single note then you get all 16 VCOs but if you press 2 notes together then it’s 8 voices per note..then 4 notes its 4 VCO’s per note etc etc. Thus meaning that it’s a kind of polyphonic unison, and offers new creative control of the powerful sound the CS80 delivers. Nearly all CS80’s we have sold in the last few years have had these fitted and it definitely adds great sonic value with no impact on the systems reliability or longevity. The Cascade Unison Mod costs £850 GBP.

Items of Note on this CS80 for sale:
Most CS80’s have lost their ‘Pedals, Music Stand and Legs’ over the years, so we are unable to supply these original accessories to the new owner, and this example for sale does not have any either. However, this CS80 we are Brokering does come with the original lid though (as pictured), and we will supply a copy of the owners manual on PDF.

This CS80 operates on EU220V, but can be converted to US110V if required.

Price: £14900 GBP

Availability: This CS80 is now SOLD as at 20th October 2016.

Prophet 5 Rev 3.3

We are Brokering this instrument for and on behalf of our UK customer

Came into stock: 3rd October 2016.

Restoration Status: KSR to service once sold, and prior to shipping to the new owner. This Prophet 5 is in perfect working condition , so the servicing is more akin to a ’health-check’ but this work is standard on all our vintage synths for sale.

Remarks: We are delighted to offer this pristine condition Prophet 5 Rev 3.3 w/MIDI that is probably the best condition example we have ever had the privilege of selling – immaculate!

These are unique sounding instruments and don’t be fooled in thinking the Prophet 6 is an alternative…it’s not. There’s a certain punch and warmth that this vintage Curtis chipset based system delivers, and you just have to listen to a-ha, Soft Cell and Genesis etc. to appreciate how influential this synth was to musicians in the 1980s….and still is today.

Did you know that the Prophet 5 can be set up to operate in different temperaments from equal-temperament. The operating system allows you to program microtonal adjustments across the keyboard, and store this in the synth memory locations. This is not something we have tried, but the user manual goes into some depth about how to achieve it.

This particular example has the upgraded memory to hold 120 programs, and was sent off to have MIDI fitted by Wine Country in the USA (the bill of work supplied from Wine Country cost over $1900 USD for the work). The synth was also fully serviced by SRS in the UK in 2015 (receipts supplied) – so a lot of love and care has been taken with this very special example.

The operational condition is flawless, although we will service the synth again prior to handing over to the new owner. The cosmetic condition is pristine and quite remarkable for a 32+ year old instrument, as you can see in the high-res pictures below, so we categorise this as a ‘collector-grade’ instrument. Very rarely do these highly sought after models come up for sale in this condition, so if you have been looking for ‘the perfect Prophet 5’ then this is certainly the one to have.

As with all Brokered Sales, the synth will be fully serviced post-sale before it’s sent to its new owner. We do this to ensure that the instrument leaves us in perfect operational condition, and it is backed up by our full warranty to give the new owner complete peace of mind. The servicing is carried out as a priority once the the sale has been completed, and although it will delay shipping/delivery by a short time, we know from experience that customers are happy to wait.

This Prophet 5 is sold through RL Music with a 3 month warranty, and can operate on US 110V or EU 220V. Also, the original user manual in a binder is supplied with the synth, plus the service receipts from Wine Country & SRS mentioned above.

Price Post-Servicing: £5070 GBP.

Availability: This Prophet 5 is now SOLD as at 12th November 2016.

1972 Minimoog

We are Brokering this very early (1972 manufactured) Minimoog for and on behalf of our UK client

Came into stock: Arrived at RL Music in July 2016.

Restoration Status: KSR have already fully undertaken a full service of the Moog in September 2016.

We present you with a 1972 manufactured Minimoog – one of the very first production models under the Moog Music Inc. company, which still used circuitry of the preceding RA Moog designs & technology.

We’ll start by telling you that this Minimoog offers a unique opportunity to access the fabled RA Moog sound, at a price that would be impossible otherwise. RA Moog modules like the 904A are selling for upwards for £3K GBP alone these days, so you will appreciate why we feel that this instrument is a genuine bargain.

The Minimoog itself has been heavily modified over its life, so is not a collector or museum piece by any stretch, but it delivers something very special in sound that all Minimoogs made subsequently just can’t sonically match.

So what is this Minimoog all about?

As all the PCB’s are RA Moog, this Minimoog has the fabled & early designed matched transistor ladder filter. It has its original clear perspex mod-wheel housing. The main control-surface metal facia had been replaced at some time with a later plastic version. The control knobs look original and are all quite worn, as are some of the switches and pots. The cabinet is not the original one, but is well made and in excellent condition, although the ‘Minimoog’ labels that should adorn the front & rear are missing. There are holes drilled into the rear-panel, and there is even an LED modification that indicates when voltages are being transmitted – we have no idea of the purpose of the mod, neither does the owner as he inherited it that way. The keys are worn & discoloured, and the key-bed itself is worn, but working. There is no serial number ID for this Minimoog that we could find, although that is not uncommon for these first Moog Music Inc. production models.

So, there’s a lot that’s been done to this Minimoog which, with today’s eyes, would seem slacriligeus, but this synth has been well used over its 44 year life, and….fully works. This synth would suit anyone wanting access to the best sounding analogue circuits ever made, whilst understanding the synth is not a show piece, but bragging rights for having an RA Moog driven Minimoog is pretty cool we think.

This could be a fantastic restoration opportunity for someone with the time to take it on, and being fundamentally an RA Minimoog, it’s certainly worth it, but we are just Brokering the synth for our client who wants to move it on and not invest into it. The UK owner has had it for over 20 years, and purchased it from another UK owner back in the 90s, but prior to that we have no history on the synth.

We were given the original metal facia (very worn), and (broken) cabinet by the owner, so these will be included in the sale. You could certainly have the facia restored if you wanted, so that’s worth considering if you’re thinking of taking this on as a project rebuild for the future.

KSR have given the Minimoog a full service, so it’s 100% fully working (it sounds amazing) and sold with our standard 3 month warranty.

Price: £2890 GBP.

Availability: This very early Minimoog is now SOLD, as at 29th September 2016.

Prophet 5 Rev 3.0

We are Brokering this instrument for and on behalf of our UK customer.

Came into stock: 1st September 2016

Restoration Status: KSR to service once sold, and prior to shipping to the new owner.

Remarks: We are delighted to offer this exemplary condition Prophet 5 Rev 3.0 that was fully pro-restored in August 2016 by a very respected UK synth tech we know well – Ben at Cyberwave (http://www.vintagesynths.co.uk).

These are truly unique sounding instruments so don’t be fooled in thinking the Prophet 6 is an alternative – it’s really not. There’s a certain punch and warmth that this vintage Curtis chipset based system delivers, and you just have to listen to a-ha, Soft Cell and Genesis etc. to appreciate how influential this synth was to musicians in the 1980s….and still is today.

Usefully, the Prophet 5 can be set up to operate in different temperaments from equal-temperament. The operating system allows you to program microtonal adjustments across the keyboard, and store this in the synth memory locations.

This particular example was purchased brand new, by the current owner, in 1979 from Rod Argent’s in Denmark Street, London. It has only ever been kept and used in the owners home, and we rate the condition as museum/collector grade – outstanding! It’s extremely rare to have access to buy a instrument of this age and in this condition, plus the provence of a single owner, so this is a fine opportunity to own a piece of music history, and without doubt, and excellent investment looking ahead.

This beautiful Rev 3.0 is completely factory original, so does not have the factory MIDI fitted like on the later 3.3 revision. However, we are able to supply and fit a Kenton MIDI kit if required, although this upgrade cost option is not reflected in the sales price below, so please email us for a quote for supplying & fitting this.

The operational condition is 100% perfect of course, having just been fully restored operationally by Cyberwave (and fully tested by us of course), and as such, is available for sale & shipping straight away.

This Prophet 5 Rev 3.0 is sold through RL Music with a 3 month warranty, and can operate on US 110V or EU 220V. We can also supply a user manual in PDF.

Price Post-Servicing: £4500 GBP.

Availability: This Prophet 5 Rev 3.0 is now SOLD, as at 6th September 2016.

Prophet T8

We are Brokering this instrument for and on behalf of our UK customer

Came into stock: May 2016

Restoration Status: KSR to fully service once sold, and prior to shipping to the new owner.

Remarks: The Prophet T8 represents the pinnacle of the Sequential product line and with MIDI implementation and built in facilities like the wooden weighted keyboard and polyphonic after-touch. This Curtis chipset based system is is a joy to use and a high-grade professional instrument.

Our restorers, KSR, are experts at preparing these models, and the example that we are Brokering here has come from a ‘home use only’ UK customer, so it’s in great shape. The synth will go though a full and extensive service post-sale, but the base-line cosmetic and operational condition is very good.

As with all Brokered Sales, the synth will be fully restored post-sale before it’s sent to its new owner.

This T8 is sold with a 3 month warranty and runs on either 110V or 220V.

Guide Price Post-Restoration: £4200 GBP.

Arp 2600

We are Brokering this Arp 2600 for and on behalf of our UK client.

Status: This item is in stock at RL Music.

Restoration Status: Full pre-sale service/health-check has just been completed by KSR, so the synth is available for sale now!

Remarks: Although these are not rare by some vintage synth standards, finding an Arp 2600 in anything approaching even good condition is a real challenge in 2016. This is why we invest such a lot of time, resources and money into getting them restored to the highest possible level that can be achieved – a FULL cosmetic and operational project restoration!

This sales listing is for an Arp 2600 synth only, so does not come with any keyboard controller. The actual version is a 2600P V3.0, manufactured between 1972 to 1974.

This Arp 2600 we are Brokering, was actually sold to the owner in 2013 by RL Music, so we are delighted to have the opportunity to re-sell such a fine example for our client.

Contains:
Original Arp (Moog lawsuit) Filter for this model (encapsulated) 4012
VCOs are original (one is encapsulated) Arp 4027-1
VCA is 4019

The owner of this Arp is the highly respected EM artist, Paul Lawler (www.paullawler.org). Paul kindly gave us his permission to disclose who the owner was as he felt there was some value in the potential new owner knowing that this 2600 has been used on his recent Arcane and Contact albums. There are even some video’s of Paul using this actual Arp 2600 here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RteFFsJjSrg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88SjxmIM3Rk

The restoration work we invested into this Arp 2600 in 2013 was extensive (what we term Total Restoration).  The work included re-Tolexing the cabinet & lid, stripped the control-panel to bare metal and had it professionally repainted and screen-printed. We had all the sliders and sockets deep cleaned and the whole synth was electronically restored including a PSU rebuild/re-cap etc. We even fitted a full set of brand new slider caps to finish it off.

This ex-RL Music prepared Arp 2600 is over 40 years old, and is in excellent condition, and only shows only the lightest of wear from 3 years of studio use at Paul’s premises.  On average we spend around £3000 GBP just in restoration costs for these models (synth & keys), and this example we are Brokering has gone through the full restorative treatment only 3 years ago. So, if you have been looking to own a beautiful condition, and electronically sorted Arp 2600, then look no further.

As this Arp has no original 3620 or 3604-P keyboard controller, the 2600 can be very simply operated via a Midi-to-CV converter, or any 1V/Oct controller for that matter. Using a multi-channel MIDI-to-CV device like the Kenton Pro-2000 means 3 note polyphonic (or paraphonic in fact) operation is achievable.

This Arp 2600 is sold with a 3 month warranty and runs on EU220V (via an IEC socket retro-fitted to the synth in 2013 by KSR). A copy owners manual will be supplied (on PDF), and a UK IEC power-cable if required.

Price: £6490 GBP.

Availability: This Arp 2600 is no longer available (as at 29th July 2016).

ENQUIRE AFTER THIS ARP 2600

Korg 800DV

We are Brokering this Korg 800DV for and on behalf of our UK customer.

Came into stock: 15th April 2016.

Servicing Status: Full service by KSR will commence post-sale.

Remarks: We just love the 800DV (or Maxi-Korg 800DV), as it’s just one of those great sounding but quirky synths from a really creative time in the mid-1970s when some amazing designs were coming out from Japan.

The 800DV offers duophonic operation (hence the DV – Dual Voice), and the sound engine from the 700/700S synths from Korg. Some say it’s two MiniKorgs in a box, but it’s a lot more than that, and the sonic pallet is very thick and powerful with some very musical effects like the ring modulator and various routing options. The front-panel operation is a little non conventional and takes some time to master, but the uniqueness of this one-of-a-kind synth make is very desirable.

Our friend, Dave Spears at GForce Software, produced a really superb demo video on the 800DV as he’s clearly a great fan of the synth (as we are also, and we own one too), so please click the link to see this: https://youtu.be/OUU2UVvglck

A useful CV/Gate modification (Hz/V) has previously been implemented to both the lower and upper synths on this example that we are Brokering. This is something that really adds some value to the 800DV for MIDI access via a converter, or use by other Hz/V Korg synths like the MS20 or PS3100 etc.

The overall cosmetic condition of this 41 year old vintage Korg is very good (see pictures), although it does show reasonable signs of age and wear to the control surface & cabinet, as to be expected.

This 800DV runs on US 110V, but the Korg will be supplied with an EU 220V step-down transformer free of charge by the owner. In addition, there is a ‘used’ aluminum flight-case included in the sale, although we will not ship the synth in this, so for any buyer able to collect it, then it will be included free of charge.

Sold with a full RL Music 3 month warranty.

As with all Brokered Sales, the synth will be fully serviced post-sale, before it’s sent to its new owner.

Price: £1750 GBP.

Availability: This Korg 800DV is no longer available (updated 29th Sept 2016).

Roland JP8 w/MIDI

We are Brokering this as-new condition vintage Roland flag-ship synthesizer for and on behalf of our UK customer

Came into stock: 22nd March 2016.

Servicing Status: Full service by KSR will commence post-sale.

Remarks: We’re delighted to be able to offer what we consider to be one of the finest analogue polysynths ever produced – the Roland Jupiter 8. We supplied this actual JP8 to its current owner back in 2006, so we know the synth well, and have maintained it for them over the last decade.

As many of you will know, we often need to subject these models to extensive operational and cosmetic restoration (costing over £2800 GBP) to bring them up to the highest possible standard, however, this actual JP8 had already gone through this process in 2008.

We call this ‘Total Restoration’ and the work produces an almost factory new-looking machine as all the metal the panels have been stripped and re-sprayed & screen-printed, and the aluminum end-cheeks re-anodised. All the electronics have been completely overhauled, key-bed refurbished and even a brand new new perspex display etc. This is the highest level restoration we can offer for these wonderful vintage synthesizers. RL Music has developed this highly specialised service for the Jupiter 8 as professionally prepared instruments of this standard are in such high demand from customers with high expectations of quality. You will not find any other business around the world offering anything close this level of restoration.

This Jupiter 8 has resided since 2006 (and its subsequent Total Restoration in 2008) in the owners UK home studio, and has been kept covered when not used, so has been lovingly cared for. This is a very reluctant sale by the owner but they are investing into larger scale music projects, otherwise it would have never come up for sale.

This Jupiter 8 is a 12 bit version (serial number is: 121xxx) and has been retro-fitted with a Encore MIDI kit. The tuning on this earlier 12 bit version is rock-solid, and the owner has confirmed that the synth is more than stable enough for live production work.

The Jupiter 8 is a professional grade vintage instrument that’s only ever going to become more sought after and rare, so here is your opportunity to buy and absolutely stunning, top level restored example that’s got to be a keeper!

Runs on EU 220V that has an IEC socket fitted, so has a removable power-cable. Also supplied is an original owners manual and period Roland Sales Brochure for the Jupiter 8. In addition, there is a very smart aluminum flight-case included in the sale, although we will not ship the synth in this, so for any buyer able to collect it, then it will be included free of charge.

Sold with a full RL Music 3 month warranty.

As with all Brokered Sales, the synth will be fully serviced post-sale, before it’s sent to its new owner.

Price: £7490 GBP.

Availability: This Roland Jupiter 8 is now SOLD as at 25th April 2016.

EMS Synthi AKS

Came into stock:  December 2014

Servicing Status: Full restoration by KSR has just been completed.

Remarks: A rare opportunity to own your EMS Synthi AKS in excellent pro-restored condition, and has some great modifications to extend it’s functionality.

This Synthi AKS has a really interesting and genuine provenance as it was purchased new by the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (UK) from EMS back in the 1970s. The Synthi was used for electroacoustic educational programs right up until the 90s, but then stored. The person we purchased it from was a student there and acquired it from the college when they were upgrading their music department about 18 years ago, and it had remained unused since.

When KSR received the Synthi AKS, and they got on with some preliminary restorative cleaning work, it revealed a really lovely cosmetic condition machine, and the electronics inside were in almost pristine condition. We know that the college had some modifications implemented to the synth, which very nicely extended the functionality, but this instrument was clearly well looked after. As part of the restoration work KSR have carried out, all these mods have been tested and everything checked out perfectly.

There is no documentation on the modifications, but from what we can determine through testing, the following has been implemented:

>VCO 1 assign to LFO mode switch
>VCO 2&3 wave-shape invert switch
>VCO 1,2&3 wave-shape assign switch
>VCO 2&3 extended wave-shape control knobs
>Envelope auto-trigger disable switch
>Reverb dry/wet enable switch
>Multi-turn potentiometers on the Input Level 1&2 controls (very useful for fine tuning).

The Synthi AKS is an extremely powerful synthesizer in standard spec, but these mods can really take the synth to a different level altogether.

These iconic and truly amazing pure analogue music instruments are in great demand by professional users, and prices are being driven up fast on the second-hand market around the world, so now might be a good time to invest in one before they become ‘Vintage Buchla or Moog Modular’ prices.

This EMS Synthi AKS comes with a full compliment of Matrix pins. KS inter-connect cable, and of course the power cable. It can operate on either EU 220V or US 110V (switchable), and it is sold with our normal 3 month warranty.

Sales Price: £9,900 UK Pounds.

Availability: This Synthi AKS is now SOLD as at 22nd April 2016.

Korg Sigma

Came into stock: Arrived at RL Music in October 2015.

Servicing status: Servicing was carried out by KSR late October 2015.

Estimated time from servicing: Available for sale now.

Remarks: We have just managed to pick up this really nice original condition Korg Sigma which is now ready for sale.

The Sigma is an unusual instrument that approaches the whole ‘being a synth’ from quite a different perspective, and these quirky instruments are what makes vintage synths so interesting. It’s bi-timbric for starters, meaning it can play its presents and the separate synth section simultaneously. It also has aftertouch and joystick controls for some really useful expressive input

The VCO/VCF combination are very powerful and pure in tone, so the Sigma has a nice raspy edge to it reminiscent of the MS20 in some ways. You can certainly drive some nasty Bass & synthy effects (ring-mod etc) out of it, along with more traditional synth-lead sounds. Hard to put a finger on the sound character to be honest but it’s different, and in todays music that’s just what musicians are looking for.

Why Korg produced something so unusual is a bit of a mystery, but the world is a better place for it.

Runs on EU 220V. The Sigma will be sold with a 3 month warranty & supplied with a user-manual (on PDF).

Guide Price Post-Servicing: £650 GBP

Availability: This Korg Sigma is now SOLD as at 25th August 2016.

Moog Prodigy

We are Brokering this instrument for and on behalf of our EU client.

Came into stock: Arrived at RL Music in October 2015.

Restoration Status: KSR has already serviced the Prodigy, so it’s ready to ship now!

It’s been a little while since we have had a Moog Prodigy in stock so we are delighted to see this old friend. This is a really super monosynth, full of thick sonic Moogyness, and lighter than air itself.

This Moog Prodigy was purchased by the current owner from a UK seller around 5 years ago (an ex-BBC synth apparently), and had it fully serviced at that time by an experienced synth tech in his country. We can verify the condition is very good, with the synth fully working.

KSR has just fully served the Prodigy and completely restored the wood cabinet, so this has been re=finished, stained and waxed by hand, so looks really beautiful.

The overall cosmetic condition is excellent on the front-panel (and cabinet of course), although there is a mark on the lower-back panel, but this is highlighted to you for full disclosure. Also, the felt bottom’s from all the knobs have been removed at some point, although this is quite common on these style of knob, but this does not obviously effect the visuals when playing the synth, but it’s something we also wanted to mention.

The Prodigy works perfectly and is sold with our standard 3 month warranty.

This example is a late version (1984) with the full compliment of CV/Gate I/O on the rear-panel – Model 3368X. It operates on EU/UK 220-240V via a standard IEC connector on the rear.

Guide Price: £890 GBP.

Availability: This Moog Prodigy is now SOLD as at 21st January 2016.

Prophet 5 Rev 2

We are Brokering this very rare Prophet 5 Rev 2, for and on behalf of our UK client.

This Prophet 5 Rev 2 has been fitted with Kenton Midi, and it has been previously fully pro-restored by James Walker of Synth Repair Services (within the last 3 years).

As always, opinions circulate about the good, bad and differences between the Rev 2 and Rev 3 Prophets but the fact remains that the SSM based Rev 2 simply sounds (a lot) better. Its a significantly more rounded and fuller sound (trying to avoid the word fat you’ll notice) and the fabled SSM oscillators and filters work beautifully within this earlier Dave Smith designed synth.

The system architecture does differ quite significantly to the later versions, in particular with the abundant use of the SSM chipset throughout, but that’s the point of the Rev 2 and why its the most coveted model of all the Prophet lineage. Reliability is sometimes muted as a reason to avoid them, but regular use and good care is the key to longevity with any vintage analogue hybrid device and we have seen no less or more reliability with the Rev 3 platforms – and we have seen quite a few of both. However, we have a twist to the tail here with this example as it’s had a lot of attention paid to it to make it the best it can possibly be, so read on….

What helps this particular Rev 2 in the (no expense spared) attention by the owner to have the synth improved/upgraded, some details of what has been done as follows:

All capacitors have been replaced.
A brand new Power-Supply has been fitted
New trimmers for all VCOs fitted
New resistors for the Auto-Tune circuit fitted
New DAC installed
Lots of Logic chips replaced
Kenton MIDI installed
Cassette interface installed
Full key-bed overhaul & bushings replaced

In addition to the above, new Riku firmware has been installed – for more information on this extensive upgrade option please click the link:

http://www.analog.fi/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=11&Itemid=9

The new firmware has lots of excellent features, like unison modes, new 2nd LFO, auto-tune improvements, front panel always live etc. Perhaps the perfect Rev 2..!

So, this beautiful instrument has been meticulously maintained, and in regular (home) use since the current owner purchased it in from the USA in 2011. Prior to this, we have no history on the Prophet 5, but it’s fair to say that this example is probably the best we have ever seen, and we’re very excited to be able to Broker it for our client.

This Rev 2 Prophet 5 is in 100% original cosmetic condition, with the panels (paint & screen printing) in excellent condition. You can actually see this Prophet 5 Rev 2 featured on the Vintage Synth Explorer website covering the Prophet 5 as it was used as the photo example for their webpage (pre-restoration & before the current owner purchased it) – link below:

http://www.vintagesynth.com/sci/p5.php

We have already had our vintage synth restoration experts – KSR, fully service this Rev 2, so it’s ready for sale now.

This is a fantastic opportunity to buy (arguably) the ‘best Prophet 5 to have,’ and the price has been agreed with our client to keep it as competitive as possible, bearing in mind the large investment already made into this perfect example.

The Prophet 5 Rev 2 is sold with our full 3 month warranty, runs on EU 220V, and is supplied with a flight-case – although please note that we won’t ship it anywhere in a flight-case, so collection only if the flight-case is wanted.

Price: £5500 GBP.

Availability: This Prophet 5 Rev 2 is now SOLD as at 27th October 2015.

Arp 2600 & 3604...

We are Brokering this vintage Arp 2600 Tonus for and on behalf of our UK customer

We present the stunning and iconic early-1970s Arp 2600 semi-modular which contains the sought after (and so called) pre-lawsuit Moog 4012 style filter. This instrument is approaching 43 years old and just sounds absolutely amazing.

This very early Arp 2600 Tonus, with original 4012 Filter + 3604P Keyboard controller, features: Semi-normalised – 3 VCOs, 4 pole Lowpass VCF, VCA, Ring Modulator, 2 EGs, sample & hold Noise, Mic Preamp, Spring Reverb, Voltage Processor and Four Octave Keyboard….the list goes on

This beautiful instrument has been maintained meticulously over the last 15 years, with no expense spared in its upkeep. The Arp has been in regular use since the current owner purchased it from the USA in the 90s, so works perfectly, and is one of the finest all original examples we have ever seen having all the panels (paint & screen printing) in excellent condition.

We have already had our vintage synth restoration experts – KSR, fully service the Arp, and we asked them to improve the presentation of the cabinets of both the synth and keyboard by re-tolexing them all and fitting new nickel fixtures etc. The finished results are outstanding, with this beautiful synth now looking in top condition.

This is a fantastic opportunity to buy one of the most icon vintage synths ever made, and the price has been agreed with our client to keep it very competitive, so even cheaper than any complete system you will find being sold privately anywhere in the world right now, and this is sold with a full warranty.

The original 3604P keyboard is useful, and is a historically correct partner for this model of 2600, but in reality offers limited access to the extensive inputs into the main synth, so to get the most out of the 2600 we would recommend using a multi-channel Midi to CV device like the Kenton Pro-2000…which we can supply but is not included in the price.

These unique synths have become very hard to find in even ‘average to poor’ condition these days, so here is a rare opportunity to own a superb fully professionally restored example that will only appreciate in value and add something special to your studio.

Supplied with all (restored) lids and cables (not pictured) & runs on US 110V. We can provide a step-down transformer for this free of charge if the eventual buyer is EU based.

Price: £6990 GBP.

Availability: This Arp 2600 Tonus is now SOLD as at 7th August 2015

Clients include: Hans Zimmer, Coldplay and numerous MI professionals – both artists and producers etc.  All CS80 owners expect the highest quality, and are in out experience, very discerning buyers, so we work to a level that ensures the instrument is every-day usable for years and meets expectations.

Upgrade Option 2:
Wood Surround (in Walnut) beautifully hand crafted by Lamond Design for an additional £750 GBP.

Upgrade Option 3:

Items of Note:
Most CS80’s have lost their ‘Pedals, Music Stand and Legs’ over the years, so in most cases we are unable to supply these orignal accessories to the new owner. However, this CS80 we are Brokering does come with the original expression pedal, chrome stand and Its original lid. We get asked a lot about what modern stands to use for these mighty synthesizers, so recommend the Quik-lok Mixer stand WS-650, although the original CS80 stand will also be fine if preferred.

Terms of Deposit & Sale on the CS80:
The CS80 can be reserved on deposit (50%) payable by bank transfer. Once the deposit has cleared, then we can normally have the CS80 ready from KSR in from 6 to 12 weeks, depending on the restoration option chosen. The balance of payment is due once the synth is ready. You are welcome to collect from us in the UK but we can have them custom crated and shipped world-wide.

Why Buy from RL Music:
Most of the restoration work we undertake against any high-end vintage synths these days involves the same amount of effort we describe above, so the prices have to reflect the investment in time, resources and skill made to get them to the highest possible quality and finest condition possible, and we know you will not find better anywhere in the world.

Price: As this CS80 has been previously full cosmetically & operationally restored, and fitted with MIDI/Unison Mod, then the above ‘option prices’ do not apply. It has its original wood surround. The sales price is £14500 GBP. This is a considerable saving over the normal upgrade price options for us to supply a CS80.

Availability: This CS80 is now SOLD as at 20th January 2016.

Library picture here is of the last CS80 we fully restored. The shot was taken just before it was packed and shipped out to an overseas customer. We’ll organise some photos of the actual CS80 for sale shortly and include them in this page.

Moog Rogue

Restoration Status: Just fully restored by KSR in April 2015 – Available for sale now!

Remarks: It’s been a little while since we have had a Moog Rogue in stock so we are delighted to see this old friend. This is a really super monosynth, full of thick sonic Moogy-ness, and lighter than air itself.

The original Moog company, under Bob’s inspired leadership, produced the Rogue as a budget synth so hard-up musicians and enthusiasts or could get access to the famous Moog sound. The smaller 2 1/2 octave keyboard would limit any ambitions to run off a big Wakeman lead solo but lent its self perfectly for bass work, as did the thick filtered Moog sound.

Some say this was a cut-down Prodigy, which in turn was a cut-down Minimoog (neither of which was true technically speaking in fact), but we really think the Rogue has its own unique character and is probably the best budget monosynth ever made for its pure vintage authentic Moog power.

Our vintage synth restoration experts, KSR, have just fully restored this powerful little Rogue so she is 100% perfect in operation, and as you can see from the pictures below, in beautiful cosmetic condition with just minor signs of age.

This example is a late version with the full compliment of CV/Gate I/O on the rear-panel. We have purchased a brand new external power-supply for this ( 24V AC), which operates on EU/UK 220-240V.

Price: £890 UKP

Availability:  This Moog Rogue is now SOLD as at 30th June 2015.
