Overview

Offered for sale is a good original Roland Jupiter-8 (12-bit model), serial number 141314, fitted with an early Kenton MIDI retrofit.

This instrument has remained in our client’s ownership for over 30 years and represents an opportunity to acquire one of the most sought-after and influential analogue polyphonic synthesisers ever produced.

Following inspection by RL Music, the Jupiter-8 was sent to Kent Spong at KSR for a comprehensive service and inspection. Minor repairs were carried out where required, and the instrument has now been fully serviced and prepared for sale.

The Jupiter-8 remains one of the defining synthesisers of the early 1980s, renowned for its powerful analogue sound, exceptional programmability, and unmistakable presence within both studio and live environments. More than four decades after its introduction, it continues to be regarded as one of the finest analogue polysynths ever produced.

Cosmetic Appraisal

This example remains in good original condition but should not be considered a collector-grade instrument.

The front panel shows visible signs of use, including noticeable wear, scratches, and areas of paint loss accumulated during the instrument’s working life. These cosmetic imperfections are reflected in our appraisal, and we would rate the overall cosmetic condition at approximately 7/10.

Whilst not a museum-quality example, its strengths lie elsewhere. The recent professional servicing by KSR, combined with its long-term ownership history and fitted Kenton MIDI upgrade, make this a highly practical and dependable instrument for musicians and studios seeking a fully functional Jupiter-8 rather than a display piece.

This Jupiter-8 is fitted with an early Kenton MIDI retrofit, providing MIDI integration for modern studio environments whilst retaining the original character and operation of the instrument.
