YAMAHA CS15

The Yamaha CS15 has been hailed by many as one of the best monosynths ever made and we’re delighted to offer you the near-mint condition example for sale.

Like is bigger brothers (the CS30 & CS30L) the CS15 has an excellent and beautifully designed front-panel layout giving the synth an astounding and vast array of features. This complexity delivers a diversity of sound that is deeply satisfying to explore. Cleverly, Yamaha produced this smaller version of their flagship CS30 range so that people could access the power of this classic design without the higher price tag.

This is a professional grade analogue synthesizer and is as relevant today as any contemporary analogue synth and offers more in pure synthesis terms than just about any other synth in this category.

This CS15 has only just been fully serviced and is sold with a 3 month warranty from RL Music. like most ‘CS’ synths we have seen in the UK over the years, this CS15 runs on 110V voltage and works very happily on a small step-down transformer due to its minimal 15W power requirements.

We have purchased a brand new (UK spec/plug) step-down transformer – rated to 45W which is supplied free of charge with this synth.

As you can see from the picture, the synth also comes with its original and very smart blue fur-lined Yamaha flight-case, which a really nice touch.

Like the CS30 we are also selling on our website, the condition of this CS15 is without doubt the best we have ever seen. This would represent a fine investment but is also an everyday useable instrument for anyone looking to own a hard-core and powerful vintage analogue system.

Sci STUDIO 440

Sequential Circuits Studio 440 Sampler

This great sounding instrument is considered one of the best Vintage Sequencing/Sampling Drum & Music Productions Machines ever made!

It’s not something we would normally deal in but we had the opportunity to play one recently and consider it’s reputation was well founded – a really great sounding sampler.

Its beautifully designed, intuitive to use and feels very much like a Sequential product in the materials and parts used. The architecture is impressive with a clean and very punchy 12bit sampling and some clever MIDI implementation as well. These are very rare and sought after machines & we have been lucky to get hold of two of them and this is the first one ready for sale.

KSR has just fully overhauled this particular example including servicing and calibrating the floppy-drive. The unit has some light wear to the panel graphics but otherwise it’s in almost new condition throughout. We have also had all 8 drum-pads replaced with brand new items from WineCountry in the USA so it’s plays perfectly..

We also have a reasonably large library that will be included with this Studio 440 unit, and it’s original user manual.

This example is sold with a full 3 months warranty and run on UK/EU voltage.

Sci PRO-ONE

Sequential Circuits Inc, Pro-One

RL Music is delighted to present for you our superb condition Pro-One from the classic Sequential Circuits family.

We purchased this particular Pro-One back from a RL Music customer whom we sold the synth to about 7 years ago so we know all about the condition already as it was pro-restored in 2005.

The Pro-One is a superb mono-synth, utilising CEM chip technology like her bigger brother, the Prophet 5. A really great sounding vintage analogue synth and very flexible modulation routing capability and wonderful built in arpeggio & 40 note sequencer.

This truly excellent condition example has just been fully serviced, thoroughly cleaned and calibrated by KSR, and is being sold with a full 3 month warranty.

Supplied the owners manual (PDF) and operates on EU voltage – 220V

SCi PROPHET 600

Sequential Circuits Inc, Prophet 600

We don’t see many of these any more, and finding one in great condition is even less likely, so we were very pleased to get this P600 in stock.

The Prophet 600 was the fist commercially available synth to have MIDI as standard from the factory and this later version has 100 patch-memory. The sound is very reminiscent of the Prophet 5 but sports 2 on-board sequencers and an arpeggiator which is really useful & something the P5 lacked.

The P600 is a really excellent way to dial into that classic Prophet sound but much more affordable than it’s bigger brothers (P5,P10 & T8 etc). It has that wonderful vintage analogue warmth and can can kick out some powerful/edgy leads and effects…a great all-rounder and with character & vintage appeal.

This P600 has only just been fully serviced and is sold with a 3 month warranty from RL Music. lt will run on 110V or 220V and is supplied with its original owners manual.

Cosmetically it’s in excellent condition with little wear and clearly never been gigged. The synth was purchased from a UK collector and is a very nice example and plays beautifully. The only minor item of note is a small blemish to the top right of the front panel which looks like a production article under the paint so probably been there since new.

OBERHEIM OB-Xa VSE

Oberheim OB-Xa – Very Special Edition

Finally, after over 6 months in detailed restoration we are delighted, and hugely proud, to present to you a very special edition 8 voice Oberheim OB-Xa.

As you can see, this is totally unique and one-off custom cosmetic finish, which we commissioned Jeff at Customsynth to work with us on, to look like the older SEM based Oberheim systems (2/4/8 Voice etc). The entire synth has been stripped – completely. The metal panels were stripped to the bare metal for the ground up restoration which had professional car grade paint (2 pack) applied and then oven baked, and then the bespoke graphics design and produced into screen for the screen printing process. The end-cheeks are the original wood items but re-finished in acrylic black lacquer which looks perfect with the SEM style panels and has a very hard and durable finish.

On the technical side for this project I worked with ‘Andy Jury from The Synth Proff’ who is an excellent & highly skilled UK based Synth Tech and he has worked countless hours to overhaul the entire electronic system, including the key-bed being refurbished and new bushes fitted. For your info on Andy, The Synthproff website can be found here: http://www.synthprof.com/index.html

In total there has been well over 200 hours of work invested into this OB-Xa and has involved several people over the last 6 months and the final results are stunning! If this restoration project had ben costed on an hourly rate then you’d be looking at several thousands of pounds having been spent to produce this synth to this level.

The reason why we decided to go for this special edition finish is that the original synth was in very poor cosmetic condition and we are unable to replicate the Oberheim paint/screen/lacquer finish that they used for the OB-Xa and OB8 etc. For some reason modern sprayers and printers just can’t do it. Faced with the choice of breaking up the OB-Xa for spares or being bold and undertaking this project…we thought it would be a great challenge to do what you see now.

We know this is not for everyone but if you are after a unique one-off OB-Xa that has had the highest level of professional restoration possible, looks stunning, works beautifully and will last for decades – then this is the one for you.

This Ob-Xa does not have a MIDI retrofit fitted but has the 120 memories option installed.

These pictures look good but still do not do this beautiful synth justice as it takes your breath away when you see in in the flesh!

This instrument is sold with a full 3 months warranty and runs on 110v and 230V voltage (switch on the rear panel). We do have a PDF copy of the Owners manual which will be supplied with the synth.

Price: £3950 UK Pounds

Availability: Sold on reserve as at 13th September 2012

MOOG MuSonics MINI

Moog MuSonics Minimoog

We are honored to have the opportunity to offer this quite exceptional, super rare and immaculate early Minimoog.

Generally accepted wisdom on actual numbers of the MuSonics Minimoogs manufactured suggest there were only around 150 or so ever made. There is an informative website dedicated to the Minimoog serial number history and registrations here:

Lords of the Mini

http://monsite-orange.fr/MiniMoog/page1/index.html

From new, in 1971, this particular example only ever had 2 custodians and has been extremely well cared for, so much care in fact that the instrument looks & plays like new. looking closely at the cosmetic condition, both inside and out, she has never been used outside the home environment and all the keys, knobs and switches feel super smooth and pristine. The serial number is in the early 1300 range and the synth has the original (Moog Modular style) metal face-plate and wheel-housing with the clear perspex wheels etc.

All the internal components are original so; original oscillators, stunning RA Moog filter and no buffer board and playing this Minimoog is a joy – she tracks and holds tune beautifully.

We purchased her from a collector in the USA in 2009 with the plan to keep her for posterity but, regrettably, we need to raise some money for other projects so she must be sold.

This truly exemplarily condition example has just been fully serviced, thoroughly cleaned and calibrated and the original Walnut case has been lightly re-finished and waxed to her original condition – all done by our restoration experts KSR – and sold with a full 3 month warranty.

This instrument runs under her original and unaltered 110v power supply and even has the original brown moog 2 core power lead. There is also a stunningly high-quality custom finished and perfect foam fitted anvil flight case that the MuSonic Minimoog will be sold with (which is probably worth over 200 UKP alone) which will be included in the final sale, free of charge.

Price = 7990 UK Pounds

R. A. MINIMOOG

RA Minimoog Serial # 1049

By the end of 1970, the now incorporated R. A. Moog Inc. introduced the Minimoog manufactured in Trumansburg NY. The first of all the subsequent Model D Minimoogs ever made were called the ‘RA Minimoog’ named so after after Robert Moog’s initials.

I present you with a March 1971 manufactured RA Minimoog available for sale.

This Minimoog was sold to the Rochester Museum in NY direct from the Moog Trumansburg factory on March 20th 1971, and was in their possession for 35 years, or at least until 2006.

This amaziing instrument has the fabled and early desined matched transistor filter, also it has had the Octave Buffer Board modification fitted to it at some time in its life to improve scaling.

It doesn’t have it’s original mod-wheel housing (for some historic reason) but does contain a very early ‘Moog Music’ wheel-housing with smooth opaque wheels. It has been one of my life’s dream to own such an extraordinary instrument but I have to consider letting her go due to more pressing needs.

There is documented provence from the Moog archives for this RA Minimoog – it’s the 49th Model D ever made – this is a very special synthesizer!

It’s quite possible that Bob Moog himself had a hand in the assembly of this particular Minimoog and original Walnut cabinet and metal facia just adds to the experience in knowing this is the genuine article from the early Moog company in 1971.

So, what have we done in terms of restoration?

My trusted Vintage Moog restoration expert, Kent Spong of KSR – London, reported that the internal condition of this instrument is like brand new. It’s clear that this Minimoog has had very little use and we could not see any evidence that it was ever worked on by a tech since it was built in 1971. The key-bed has had new bushes fitted by KSR, and along with some minor cleaning to pots and switches, a full calibration has been carried out…that’s it, and that’s all it needed.

KSR also (very sympathetically) hand-finished the Walnut Cabinet to bring back the character and waxed finished it so, apart from natural aging and darkening of the wood, it looks like the day it was made.

Oh, and It plays beautifully by the way, and holds tune tune and scales like a late Minimoog, which means you can use this Moog to make music with and not just to lovingly stare at it. The matched transistor ladder filter is amazing and the last word in that classic Vintage Moog sound.

This extraordinary instrument is being sold with a 3 month warranty. It operates (perhaps obviously) under the US 110v voltage.

Price = 9000 UK Pounds

ROLAND JUNO-106

Here’s a very cost effective way of dialing into that vintage analogue Roland sound – the Juno 106.

Without any doubt a true vintage synth and a very useable and practical analogue polysynth keyboard for live use as well as studio. The Juno 106 is among the first factory fitted MIDI synths from Roland in the early 80s, and with its on-board effects (chorus) and a really warm 24db/Oct filter, it sounds (and is) really retro whilst the DCO’s provide strong tuning stability.

The more advanced MIDI control on the 106 (SysEx) means you can use external patch-editors (Mac & PC) although in truth it’s not all that complex to program from the front panel…which is a big part of the joy of owing a vintage synth like this.

We picked up this super example from a UK collector who had owned it since new so it’s in immaculate condition – it certainly never left the home environment.

KSR have fully overhauled this Juno 106 and have given it a clean bill of health with no problems found with any of its original parts.

As you can see, the condition is fantastic and high-res pictures are available on request.

This example is sold with a full 3 months warranty and runs on UK/EU voltage. We also have the original owners manual for this 106 and that’s also in perfect condition!

Price: 780 UK Pounds

Availability: This is now SOLD as at 13th November 2012 but we have another being restored which should be available soon.
