Remarks: This Jupiter 6 (serial # 333020) was purchased by our client some years ago and is only ever used in the home.  The cosmetic condition is excellent, and the whole synth only shows light indications of use with some marks to the panels, which we hope the photos provided will show, but this is a high-quality 40 years old vintage instrument.

The Jupiter 6 has been a hugely popular polysynth since it arrived in 1983. It offers aficionados that beautiful vintage polyphonic analogue Roland sound for a very reasonable cost compared to its sibling, the Jupiter 8.  Prices for these models in recent years have seen a significant uplift as vintage polysynths are getting rarer and rarer to find in good condition.

Our client, the owner of the synth, purchased it in 2005 from a UK seller, and this being a 240V machine would suggest it’s always been in the UK, so not an import. The JP6 has never been gigged, and the cosmetic condition stands as a testament to it being exceptionally well cared for throughout its 40 years since manufacture. 

This JP6 has the hugely popular Europa Modification implemented, which expands the capability of this already superb vintage polysynth; we also have printed copies of the Europa User manuals, which we will supply upon sale to the new owner. Additionally, the original aluminium end-cheeks have been overlayed with retro-style hardwood wood pieces, which are in excellent shape.  This ‘bolt-on’ cosmetic mod can be removed if unwanted, but it’s something we have seen on a few JP6, and it either adds or subtracts to the synth, which depends on your viewpoint.

Remarks: 

The TR-909 is simply a classic sounding analogue drum machine and used by a huge array of top artists with thousands of reviews on-line so we’re not going to tell you anything new here. Most professional musicians we know have at least 2 or even 3 of these machines and they usually get very heavy studio and live use which is a testament to the rugged, stable and reliable design from Roland in the mid 80s.

Our client has owned this TR-909 for a few years having rescued it from a secondary school music department clearcut as it was marked for being thrown out, so we’d say that was a really very good save and result.

MIDI was fitted as standard by Roland on these models.

This TR-909 is fully operational and the cosmetic presentation (see pictures below) is very good with some marks/wear and signs of it age (39+ years), and the name of the school was etched into the base of the machine but it’s not visible when in use. Also, someone has used indelible pen indicating that the unit is fully earthed….good to know.

This is a good honest example that works perfectly and very recently has recently had a full service and battery fitted, and the price has been agreed with our client to reflect the condition, so is the best value TR-909 available in the world right now, being sold from a specialist dealer.

This TR-909 is sold through RL Music with a 3-month warranty. Service Status: 

A full service was carried out by Ben Rossborough at Cyberwave EMS in November 2023, including it being retrofitted with the 80017A VCF VCA Juno-106 voice chip Filter IC clones from Analogue Renaissance.

Remarks: 

Without any doubt a true vintage synth and a very useable and practical analogue polysynth keyboard for live use as well as studio.  The is among the first factory fitted MIDI synths from Roland in the early 80s, and with its on-board effects (chorus) and a really warm 24db/Oct filter, it sounds (and is) really retro whilst the DCO’s provide strong tuning stability.

The more advanced MIDI control on the 106 (SysEx) means you can use external patch-editors (Mac & PC) although in truth it’s not all that complex to program from the front panel…which is a big part of the joy of owing a vintage synth like this.

Background:

Our client purchased this many years ago, and the Juno 106 had only ever been used at his home but they now work abroad so the synth had been stored away for some time. It was recently sent over to Ben at Cyberwave for a full service as it had been stored for a while, and the full suite of brand new VCF/VCA installed as mentioned above, so it’s a  good to go.

Remarks: 

Roland started producing some really unique synthesizers in the mid 1970s, and they were built to a very high standard and certainly have lasted. The SH-3A was conceived as a portable full function analogue synth that had bags of charter and shared much of the same architecture & functionality from the SH-5, SH-7 and even the System 100 etc, so we think this represents excellent value for money.

Background:

Our client purchased this Roland SH-3A new in 1975, so it’s a single owner machine that’s been in their possession for just shy of 50 years, and only ever been used in a home environment.  

Servicing:

As mentioned above, Kent at KSR has just going the SH-3A a full service, so it’s perfectly working and sounding like a SH-3A should, and he commented that the synth is in beautiful condition inside and out.

Condition:

We rate this as in excellent all original condition, unmodified and complete with its music stand, lid and original owner manual, so very much a collectors grade instrument, that’s ready to play.

Although we don’t have the original sale receipt from 1975, the synth does come with its original user manual.

Remarks: This Roland Juno 60, JSQ-60 and Boss KM-60 were purchased by our client brand new (from our Client’s memory) around 1983 from a music shop based in Chelmsford, and all three items have only ever been used in the home.  The cosmetic condition is outstanding for all three machines, pristine and almost (if not) as-new condition. These are usable vintage instruments, so they have intrinsic value as such but the condition of this collection more than qualifies as something a collector would cherish.

We are going to try and sell this collection as a bundle for two reasons; 

Firstly as they were all bought together and have been used together for 40 years, so it would be ideal to not split them up if possible.

Secondly, as these actually all make excellent partners in terms of operating and mixing, especially with that stunning condition analogue keyboard mixer, the KM-60

The Juno 60

The design of the Juno 60 has to be one of the best Roland ever produced in terms of simplicity of sound design and warmth of character. The Juno 60 has been a ‘go-to’ synth for working musicians wanting that vintage sound for quite a while now.  It kind of defies logic that a DCO synth could deliver such a lush and musical tone, and it won the hearts and minds of all synthesists who’d had the opportunity to own or play one. 

This is, we feel, the cleanest all original example we have had through our business, with the buttons and keys so clean and white, it’s like looking at a brand new machine. Included in the sale is the original Roland Patch Program Data Cassette and owner’s manual.

This synth sounds and operates like all Juno 60 should, and KSR has fully serviced the synth, so it’s 100% working perfectly and good to go.  Aside from the DCB Port, there is no modern MIDI retrofit to this example, but as it’s in such beautiful original condition it would be such a shame to drill holes into the pristine metal panel.  Kenton still produces a Pro-DCB MIDI converter, so we would recommend going this route to maintain the originality for MIDI functionality, but if you must have a more sophisticated MIDI access then please call and speak to us about what options are available and costs etc.

The price has been agreed with our client to reflect the outstanding condition as we both recognise this to be a vastly superior quality example to what most people are trying to sell online around the world. 

The Juno JSQ-60

This was Roland’s solution to a dedicated polyphonic sequencer for the Juno 60, which connects via the proprietary DCB port on the synth from a Roland sequencer. A useful 2000-step unit that’s simple to use and an effective partner for its time.

As you can see from the photos, the unit comes still contained within its original EO retail packaging. The cosmetic condition is excellent with only tiny areas showing any imperfections, and we have provided some photos below that show all angles of the sequencer so you can get a feel for it’s overall quality.

KSR has fully serviced the synth, so it’s 100% working perfectly and good to go, and we have purchased a brand new 9V DC 1A external power supply (UK model) for this, which is included in the price.

The Boss KM-60 6-Channel Analogue Mixer

A very well-known and sought-after analogue mixer that Boss produced in the late 1970s. It’s a stereo 6-channel machine that offers onboard EQ, effects send and panning,  some lovely VU-meters and a beautiful aesthetic that fits perfectly with the Juno-60 and JSQ-60.  There’s a lot of love for this little mixer, we used to own one back in the day so know it well and have fond memories of our ownership. Certainly, you can buy a lot more ‘mixer’ these days, but period-correct equipment has a unique appeal and the KM-60, especially in this condition, is very much collectable and only set to become more desirable as the years go by.

As you can see from the pictures, it’s is fantastic cosmetic condition with only the smallest evidence that tells you this mixer is over 40 years old.

KSR have fully serviced the mixer, cleaned all the potentiometers and jack-sockets and re-capped the PSU, so it’s 100% working perfectly.  We all know that mixers impart a lot of character to the tone of the instruments used through them, and the KM-60 was produced with the Roland product set being sold at that time in mind, so the Juno-60 is the perfect partner for it. Its a trackable mixer but this example has never been used that was so is completely unblemished…stunning.

In Summary:

Remarks: A beautiful condition Roland Jupiter 8 (12bit model) – Serial Number: 161512, which has been retrofitted with a Groove MIDI kit.

We are always very happy to sell any Jupiter 8 and this one is an excellent representative example that has MIDI as well. What can we say that hasn’t already been written about the JP8…honestly, nothing new.  However, we’ve seen relative values for this flagship vintage analogy poly-synth climb sharply in recent years, so they’ve become unaffordable to most people, which is a real shame.

The overall condition is excellent, with far less than he normal amount of wear we would expect to see on a synth this age, so this example has been very well cared for throughout its existence. The photos below tell the story, but even the base of this JP8 is in great shape.

We discussed the price at some length with our client and agreed keep the sale price as reasonable as is possible for this model, so we think you will find this cheaper by far than any currently available JP8 for sale in the world right now, in comparable condition, with MIDI, fully serviced and sold with a guarantee.

Remarks: The classic rack polysynth combo is considered by many enthusiasts to be one of the best sounding vintage analogue rack-synths ever.

The MKS-80 Super Jupiter is powerful velocity and pressure sensitive 8 voice/16 VCO analogue polysynth with that big vintage Roland sound, and a stack of modulation and editing facilities.  The accompanying MPG80 controller is an essential piece of kit if you want to really dig down into the programming and open up the synth’s capabilities, and is a joy to use.

This unit (Serial #633634) is the much sought after Rev.5 version of the MKS-80 (see PCB picture below) featuring the Roland IR3R03 VCO and VCF/VCA IR3R05 chipset, amongst other architectural differences to the earlier versions.  Many say the Rev.5 comes closest to sounding like the Jupiter 8, but we’ll leave that debate to the internet to continue.

The cosmetic condition of this MKS-80 is outstanding, with only very light markings in evidence that this rack-synth has been very well looked after by our Client, whom has owned this instrument around 22 years, and only ever used in his home.

The MKS-80 work perfectly and contains many of their original patches, and they’re simple to set up in your studio and get to work with straight out of the box.

Remarks: The demand for high-quality examples of the world’s most famous drum machine never relents, so we were delighted to be able to offer this good condition TR-808 with MIDI.

Our client has owned this TR-808 since 2018, having purchased it then from a reputable UK vintage synth dealer, so it had been fully serviced and prepared for sale at that time, and the dealer also fitted a MIDI-in modification for our client, through the TR-808 Din-Sync socket at back of the unit, although the switch next to the socket still provides the option to just use the Din-Sync if preferred. 

Our client purchased the Stardust cover, so this is supplied in the sale.

Remarks: The CR78 has to be one of the most distinctive drum machines ever made, and has been used by used by artist such as: Brian Ferry, Gary Numan, 808 State, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, Ultravox etc. 

Our client has owned this CR78 since mid-2019, having purchased it from a private seller in Belgium, whom had owned it from new. Kent at KSR has just given the CR78 a full health check, so it’s all ready for its new owner.

This CR78 is fully operational, does not have any modifications and the cosmetic presentation is excellent aside some tiny marks to the faux wood cabinet (see pictures below).

Included in the sale is also a Future Retro Swynx unit (pictured below), a sync box that converts MIDI signals into MIDI clock, DinSync24, CR-78 clock and analog clock.  Our client has supplied to us the Swynx and its external UK (220~240V) 3-pin type power-supply but no cables.

Remarks: 

It’s not often that digital synths make it into the ‘vintage’ club, but the JD-800 has long been recognised as one of those machines that really stood out. We think it was not just the sound engine but the control surface that pandered to our need for dedicated access to functions other than all the usual menu-diving synths made in the 90s, so this was a huge appeal.

Background:

Our client purchased this JD-800 in the last 90s, although it’s hardly been used in the last 10+ years, so he commissioned KSR to fully refurbish the synth, which covered the key-bed issues these models suffer with. The synth was never used outside the home and comes supplied with the M-512E Memory Card (512K).

Condition:

The cosmetic condition of the outer plastic case in general, all control surfaces and the keys is very good, with just some small signs of reasonable wear for a 30-year-old synth.  You can see from the pictures that this JD-800 is fully 100% intact. All its original knobs & slider caps are present, and the key-bed has had the well-documented ‘glue’ residue issue fixed by KSR.  

The JD-800 is a EU220V version, and we will supply the synth with an EU-type 2-Pin cable that Roland used for these.

Remarks: This Juno 60 was purchased by our client some years ago and was only ever used in the home.  The cosmetic condition is very good, and the whole synth only shows light indications of use & wear to the control surface and faux wood cabinet, but overall, it’s a very nice machine at an exceptionally good price. 

The design of the Juno 60 has to be one of the best Roland ever produced in terms of simplicity of sound design and warmth of character. The Juno 60 has been a ‘go-to’ synth for working musicians wanting that vintage sound for quite a while now.  It kind of defies logic that a DCO synth could deliver such a lush and musical tone, and it’s won the hearts and minds of all synthesists who’d had the opportunity to own or play one.

This synth sounds and operates like all Juno 60 should, and KSR has just fully serviced the synth, so it’s 100% working perfectly and good to go.  The price has been agreed with our client to reflect the overall condition and to try for a quick sale, so it’s likely the best value Juno 60 in the world being sold from a dealer.

Remarks: The demand for high-quality examples of the world’s most famous drum machine continues to grow, so we were delighted to be able to offer this outstanding condition TR-808. 

Our client has owned this beautiful condition TR-808 for several years and had it fully serviced a few years ago by KSR who also retrofitted the Kenton MIDI kit into it. Kent at KSR has just given the drum machine a full health check so it’s all ready for its new owner.  It also comes with the perspex overlay, which is showing its age now but it’s done a fine job of protecting the panel.

Plenty has been said & written about this iconic instrument, and the significant number of clones/copies, and even Roland’s TR08, are all made in homage to the iconic status that the original machines hold.  It sounds great of course and is one of those ‘must-have’ instruments if you’re serious about your vintage analogue sound.

The operational condition is flawless, and as you can see in the high-res pictures below, the cosmetic condition is fabulous with only a tiny amount of any noticeable wear, which for an instrument that’s now 40+ years old is quite something.

Remarks: 

The consumer version of the Juno 106, has been gaining popularity in recent years simply due to the price point on the 106 having gone up so much.  The HS-60 is architecturally identical to the Juno 106 (aside from the speakers obviously), so for the savings against the 106 it’s looks like a good deal in 2022.

Produced around 1985, the HS-60 is a 6 voice DCO based polysynth that sounds the same as a Juno 106, which is a really good thing as the 106 is a super sounding vintage synth.  It all comes with MIDI.

Background:

Our client purchased this HS-60 only a few years ago, and the Roland has only been used at his home.  It had previously been retrofitted with the 80017A VCF VCA Juno-106 voice chip Filter IC clones from Analogue Renaissance, so it’s all been sorted.

Condition:

Operationally it’s 100%, but we will have KSR fully check the HS-60 post-sale and any service items needed will be addressed.
