It must be true that time travel is possible because we have a vintage Pro-one sat here that looks like i’s just come from the Sequential Circuits production line in 

The Pro-One is a superb mono-synth, utilising the fabled Curtis CEM chip technology, like its bigger brother, the Prophet 5. A really great sounding vintage analogue synth and very flexible modulation routing capability and wonderful built-in arpeggio & 40 note sequencer. 

This Pro-One has come to us from our UK client who has owned it since new, having bought it in the early 1980s, so only one owner!  It comes with its original retail packaging and has a pristine copy of the owners manual.  The condition of the Pro-One can only be described as mint.  It’s immaculate, unmarked.

What can we add to the huge body of praise that you can find online for this super little mono-synths, it’s got heart, full of character, punchy, versatile…perfect.

To answer the obligatory question on these models, yes, this is (J-Wire) version, most were.  KSR has just fully serviced the synth, which included a new set of neoprene keyboard bushes, full calibration, re-cap of PSU, deep-clean of all pots, switches etc.  The synth was clean and in top condition, but age still plays its part in needing to maintain these instruments, so most of the servicing was minimal to ensure furniture continuity.  The wood end-cheeks were pristine, so di not need any treatment.

Remarks: We are delighted to offer this fantastic condition Prophet 5 Rev 3.2 w/MIDI, which comes from a private seller based in the UK. The synth has had regular use and maintenance – evidenced by the perfect operational condition.

We could never have imagined that we would have to say this, but this Prophet 5 is the vintage original model, so not the 2020 Dave Smith re-issue.

These are unique sounding instruments, and there’s a certain punch and warmth that this vintage Curtis chipset based system delivers, and you just have to listen to a-ha, Soft Cell and Genesis etc. to appreciate how influential this synth was to musicians in the 1980s….and still is today.

Did you know that the Prophet 5 can be set up to operate in different temperaments from equal-temperament.  The operating system allows you to program microtonal adjustments across the keyboard, and store this in the synth memory locations.  This is not something we have tried, but the user manual goes into some depth about how to achieve it.  

The operational condition is flawless, and as you can see in the high-res pictures below, the overall cosmetic condition (wood cabinet, front panel, modulation panel & rear panel) is outstanding for a 38-year-old instrument, with only very minor wear from use.

Remarks: This Jupiter 8 forms part of a larger collection of vintage synths that we are brokering for our client. This Synthacon has been in our client’s collection for several years.

Roland Jupiter 8 (14bit model) – Serial Number: 212296, has been retrofitted with a MIDI kit.

We are always very happy to sell any Jupiter 8 and this one is a good representative example that has MIDI as well. What can we say that hasn’t already been written about the JP8…honestly, nothing new.  However, we’ve seen relative values for this flagship vintage analogy poly-synth climb sharply in recent years, so they’ve become unaffordable to most people, which is a real shame.

The overall condition is very good, with only the normal amount of wear we would expect to see on a synth this age, although there is a blemish that you can see on the back-plane, on the right-hand side, which we have included a picture of to show, for full disclosure.  

We discussed the price at some length with our client and agreed to keep the sale price as reasonable as is possible for this model, so we think you will find this cheaper by far than any currently available for sale in the world right now, in comparable condition, fully serviced and sold with a guarantee. 

This JP8 operates on EU/UK 220V.  We will also supply a PDF copy of the owners manual.

Remarks: We are Brokering this very rare vintage Prophet 5 Rev 2, for and on behalf of our UK client.

This Prophet 5 Rev 2 has been fitted with Kenton MIDI, a JLC Modification to increase the patch storage memory to 120, and the pitch-bend was replaced with a lever.

Our client has only owned the Prophet 5 since 2018, and all the modifications were carried out to the synth before he purchased them, so we don’t have any documentation or history on when these were done, but all the mods work perfectly.

As always, opinions circulate about the good, bad, and differences between the Rev 2 and Rev 3 Prophets but the fact remains that the SSM based Rev 2 simply sounds (a lot) better.  It’s a significantly more rounded and fuller sound (trying to avoid the word fat you’ll notice) and the fabled SSM oscillators and filters work beautifully within this earlier Dave Smith designed synth.

The system architecture does differ quite significantly from the later versions, in particular with the abundant use of the SSM chipset throughout, but that’s the point of the Rev 2 and why it’s the most coveted model of all the Prophet lineage. Reliability is sometimes muted as a reason to avoid them, but regular use and good care is the key to longevity with any vintage analogue hybrid device and we have seen no less or more reliability with the Rev 3 platforms – and we have seen quite a few of both.

What we do know is that this beautiful instrument has been meticulously maintained, and in regular use. KSR commented that this was in very nice condition ‘on the inside,’ which is as important an indicator as the exterior cosmetic condition is. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to buy (arguably) the ‘best Prophet 5 to have,’ and the price has been agreed with our client to keep it as competitive as possible, for a genuine, vintage Rev 2.

With all the variety of Korg MS20 now available, it’s easy to get confused about which is the one to have, but the fact remains that the original 1970s MS20 is still the ‘real deal’ and a much-coveted full-sized semi-modular system with true vintage authenticity.  The pleasure of owning an original/vintage analogue synthesizer can’t be understated just because Korg reissued it (and the other copies out there).  All the MS20 variants have certainly fired up everyone’s imagination though, which has to be a good thing for analogue fans.

Second-hand prices for the genuine 1970s built Korg MS20 have seen a reduction in the last few years, but we are starting to see a strong recovery for the vintage originals, so now is the time to consider buying one for keeps.

This example is an Mk2 variant, so the filter was re-designed around the LM13600 operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) – sounds great too! There have been no modifications to this synth, and as you can see from the pictures, it’s in good all original condition showing only the normal amount of wear you would expect for a for 40-year-old synth

This was imported from its homeland in Japan, so operates on 100~110V.  We can provide a step-down transformer if needed (subject to your requirements & quotation).

Remarks: We are brokering this very good condition example for a UK client who has owned it for 20+ years. 

One of the worlds best known & loved vintage synths, much cloned but never surpassed. This is actually a Mk1 Odyssey but with the black & gold cosmetic finish…a very rare edition.  You can immediately tell by the smaller on/off switch and the fact it also says 2800 on the back that this is an Mk1 Odyssey with a different cosmetic finish – very rare! This Odyssey was manufactured between ‘74 and ‘75 which is simply the blackface replacing the white face before the Mk2 came out.

So, being an MK1, but in black & gold, it utilises the most sought after & musical 12dB 4023 VCF type.

Cosmetically, this 45+year-old (The Mk1 version being last produced in 1975) vintage analogue instrument is in very good condition but does show a normal amount of wear for an instrument of this age. 

We are fairly certain that Arp themselves fitted the aftermarket  CV/Gate/Trig I/O modification implemented into the synth, so this adds additional functionality and certainly brings the Arp into a more useful role as an analogue controller, or to be used via sequencer etc.

This very rare blackface Arp Odyssey Mk1 is sold through RL Music with a 3-month warranty and can be shipped worldwide. This example is a US model, so runs on 110V. We can provide a step-down transformer if needed (subject to your requirements & quotation).

Remarks: We are brokering these good condition examples for a UK client who has owned them for 20+ years. 

 The Matrix 6R was one of the last of models produced by Oberheim during the late 1980s that still offered the warmth of the famous Matrix 12/Xpander sound though its analogue filters, and was a hybrid, so digital in control.  An extremely versatile machine with complex programming facilities, offering 6 voice polyphony (2 DCO per voice), LPF, 2 VCA, 2 LFO, 2-part multitimbral and patch-memory of course.

It’s a nice sounding instrument, and a very cheap way to dial into that ‘Matrix/Xpander’ sound at a fraction of the cost.

We’ve taken some photo’s from all angles so you can see how the racks look.  There are some cosmetic issues with tape reside & wear, and one of the heat-grills has taken a knock, but all of this is hidden from view once the synths are racked, or facing the user.

The rack-eared unit us a UK/EU voltage 230V unit.

The non-rack-Eared unit us a US voltage 120V unit. We can provide a step-down transformer if needed (subject to your requirements & quotation).

Remarks: We are brokering this very good condition example for a UK client who has owned it for 30+ years, although it’s not been in much use in recent times, so they have asked us to find a new custodian for it.

A very powerful mono synth from Yamaha’s ‘CS’ family, the CS30 is a remarkably flexible system, and although it takes a moment to get your mind around the programming logic, that’s certainly half the fun in mastering them. 

The CS30 is an extremely capable synthesizer with some excellent routing & shaping facilities, characterised by the fabled ‘CS series’ resonant filters which deliver a very musical tone. The sine wave on the VCOs can be set up to output one of the most potent basses we have ever heard from a mono synth, something not many people will appreciate. The built-in 8 step sequencer makes this synth unique in the CS series and is one of only a few vintage synths that featured this beneficial facility. There are a useful amount of inputs for control including CV/Gate so you can hook her up quickly to a Midi to CV converter. There is also an audio-in for running external signals through the synth, which is a nice touch.

This example is a Japanese market model, so runs on 100V. We can provide a step-down transformer if needed (subject to your requirements & quotation).

Remarks: We are delighted to offer this super condition Prophet 5 Rev 3.2 with a Kenton MIDI retrofit installed. This synth has been in the ownership of our client for at least 20 years, although they told us it was in storage for at least the last 10 years, so they commissioned Kent at KSR to give the Prophet 5 a full overhaul/service etc.

The Kenton MIDI kit works flawlessly and brings the P5 into the DAW environment nicely which keeps the synth in step with all the modern music tech.

The service included full system overhaul (re-capped/calibration etc) and clean and keyboard assembly deep-clean with new bushings. The wood case has been also been refinished by hand. All the potentiometers and micro-switches were cleaned as well so all are smooth to touch and operate. We decided to leave the patches in the Prophet 5 as they are actually really nice, but we can install the factory resent if the buyer of this prefers.

These are unique sounding instruments and don’t be fooled in thinking the Prophet 6 is an alternative…it’s not. Kent at KSR commented that this Prophet 5 was in really great shape internally and had clearly been really well maintained throughout its life, including the current owner’s custodianship.

The operational condition is flawless, and as you can see in the high-res pictures below, the overall cosmetic condition is very good for a 35+ year-old instrument, with only minor wear from use. The rear/back panel does show some marks and wear to the factory painted surfaces, so we wouldn’t rate this is a collector grade example, but certainly 8 out of ten, and it looks beautiful where it counts.

Remarks: The classic rack polysynth combo is considered by many enthusiasts to be one of the best sounding vintage analogue rack-synths ever.

The MKS80 Super Jupiter is powerful velocity and pressure sensitive 8 voice/16 VCO analogue polysynth with that big vintage Roland sound, and a stack of modulation and editing facilities.  The accompanying MPG80 controller is an essential piece of kit if you want to really dig down into the programming and open up the synth’s capabilities, and is a joy to use.

This unit is the much sought after Rev.5 version of the MKS80 (see PCB pictures below) featuring the Roland IR3R03 VCO and VCF/VCA IR3R05 chipset, amongst other architectural differences to the earlier versions. Many say the Rev.5 comes closest to sounding like the Jupiter 8, but we’ll leave that debate to the internet to continue.

Both the operating panels MKS80 & MPG80 programmer are in excellent cosmetic condition as you would expect from a rack system, and the interconnect cable for the MPG80 is present. In addition, there original Roland M-64C Memory Cartridge is also supplied with this combo, providing additional samples for the MKS80.

Both units work perfectly and contain many of their original patches, and they’re simple to set up in your studio and get to work with straight out of the box. This combo has come to us from a private owner who is downsizing his synth collection, which is all in fantastic condition, so home use only for many years, which the overall condition verifies.

This combo sounds and operates like all MKS80 should, so if the sound is more important than looks, then this instrument will make a good studio workhorse for your vintage analogue poly needs.

The MKS80 is a EU220V machine, and as mentioned above, is supplied with the MPG80 interconnect cable and an IEC cable with UK-plug fitted. We will supply a copy of the user manual on PDF.

Remarks: Much has been written on these incredible synthesizers and it’s understandable when you use them as they really can deliver a thick analogue wall of sound, and are perfect pad and brass sources just for starters.

The Xpander lineage includes the Matrix 6 and 12 and is a fully midi configured, 6 voice Polysynth – an excellent addition to any analogue set-up and has to be heard to be believed. he Xpander offers a deep programmable architecture for those of you into tweaking but can also be a very user-friendly hands-on preset machine. This means they sit between that digital and analogue medium perfectly and are arguably the best of the hybrid technology of the early to mid-1980s.

This example is a Japanese build unit (serial #700151), that works perfectly, and as mentioned above, has just been fully serviced by KSR. The cosmetic condition is excellent, as you can see from the pictures below. Kent at KSR has also restored the wood end-cheeks on the Xpander, so the whole presentation is superb.

This Oberheim Xpander has come to us from a private owner who is downsizing his synth collection, which is all in fantastic condition, so home use only for many years, which the overall condition verifies. We’re very pleased to be able to offer this wonderful synthesizer as a Brokered deal, and we will be fully servicing it and selling it with a 3-month warranty.

The Xpander runs on 115~230V, is supplied with an IEC cable with UK-plug fitted and an original Oberheim Xpander Owners Manual.

Remarks: We are delighted to offer quite a rare machine to find in the UK these days, a Moog Multimoog.

This particular example has been in the ownership, and cared for, by Jessica Lauren (our client), for many years, and has been one of her main ‘go-to’ synths for all her live & studio work. Jessica is a very talented Jazz musician and highly skilled keyboard player. Her Multimoog can be heard on many of HER albums over the years, but she has decided it was time to let the Moog go to a new home.

It’s a brilliant mono-synth that has a sound character all of its own, boasting a punchy 24dB Moog Filter and some complex routing and performance options. In the right hands (like Jessica’s hands), this is a highly capable & versatile synthesizer.

This Multimoog has been meticulously maintained over the years by KSR, so we can confirm it’s a perfectly working instrument, and used as an old Moog should be…for making music. It’s fair to say that the Multimoog is not a collector’s piece, but it’s in average cosmetic condition for its age and in pretty good shape. This is an honest machine with a fabulous provenance and will serve the right buyer for many more years to come.

The price for this Multimoog has been set to reflect it’s the condition, but looking at global prices for these models, it represents an absolute bargain, a steal, at the advertised price below, so we don’t think it will be available for long.

This Multimoog is sold through RL Music with a 3-month warranty and operates on EU 220V.

Came into stock: Available from RL Music as at 20th December 2018, and this CS80 is currently located at our restoration partners – KSR in Surrey, UK.

Servicing Status: A full health-check by KSR has already been carried out (December 2018), so this CS80 is ready for sale now.

Remarks: This CS80 is good all original condition, with no modifications.

This CS80 we are offering for sale comes to us for Brokering from a private owner who had sent the instrument to KSR directly for a full check-up, to ensure it’s fully operational and ready for us to sell for them. The overall condition of this CS80 is good, but it does show signs of wear to the control surfaces and tolex, as we would expect from a 40+ year old instrument.

The pictures we have taken (see below), provide an honest appraisal, so we would rate this mid-production series CS80 (serial #13xx) to be a suitable studio example, that works flawlessly.

As mentioned, Kent at KSR has conducted a full health-check, and system-wide calibration of this CS80, but this is akin to a low-level service, so this is not a restoration. If a higher level of restoration work is something any potential buyer is interested in having done to ensure future longevity for this CS80 then please contact us for details of what is covered and the pricing etc.

Warranty provided on this CS80:

The CS80 is sold with a 3-month warranty as standard which covers all parts and labour and telephone/Skype technical support.

Upgrade Option Fitted -1:
If Midi is required on the CS80 then we are normally able to supply and install the Kenton Midi retrofit Kits for an additional £850 GBP.

Items of Note on this CS80 for sale:
Most CS80’s have lost their ‘Pedals, Music Stand and Legs’ over the years, so we are unable to supply these original accessories to the new owner, and this example for sale does not have any either. However, this CS80 does come with the original lid, and we will supply a copy of the owners manual on PDF.

This CS80 operates on EU220V but can be converted to US110V if required (subject to quotation).

We can have the CS80 professionally packed (custom crated) and shipped pretty much anywhere in the world (subject to quotation).
